The holes on the side of the starter motor which are used to mount the heat-shield are blank (not threaded). They are designed for self-tapping screws which are used in the OE production.

Some customers have reported receiving dealer units with the holes already threaded. In this case, the unit is probably reconditioned or returned stock.
